Thiruvananthapuram: A 50-year-old businessman was found dead at his house at Kuzhichani in Neyyattinkara on Sunday morning. The deceased was Jose, owner of Karthika Granite, which has multiple showrooms across the district. The police suspect, it to be a case of suicide.According to police sources, Jose was found hanging inside a bedroom of his newly constructed house around 9.30am. Family members became suspicious after repeated calls to him went unanswered. When relatives forced open the door, they found him dead and immediately alerted the police. The body was later shifted to medical college hospital for postmortem examination. Police said Jose was a native of Neyyattinkara and had been running Karthika Granite for several years. He was also associated with the hospitality sector and owned a few resorts. Investigators said the exact reason behind the extreme step remains unclear. However, preliminary enquiries suggest that he had been facing certain business-related issues in recent months. Police sources also indicated that he had been dealing with some health problems. Neyyattinkara police have registered a case under the provisions related to unnatural death and further investigation is under way. Suicides are preventable and help is just a phone call away.
