Rajkot: A 42-year-old businessman died after allegedly falling from the 12th floor of Palm Universe apartment on Gangotri Park Main Road in Rajkot in the wee hours of Tuesday, police said.An 108-emergency medical team was rushed to the spot, but he was declared dead. University police station has registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.According to University police inspector K K Gohil, the deceased businessman Nimesh Bhanderi, reached the apartment of a longtime female friend, Kajal, at around 10pm on Monday. He fell from the 12th floor between 1:30am and 1:45am. The incident was reportedly recorded by the building’s CCTV cameras.Police are questioning Kajal about her movements at the time of the incident. Investigators said Bhanderi had known her for several years.Bhanderi, who operated a water-plant business, had divorced his wife around two years ago. He had been living in a rented house on Kalawad Road with a woman in a live-in relationship. His former wife and children reside with his parents on Hari Dhava Road.Police have also begun recording the statement of his live-in partner as they seek to establish what exactly transpired before the fatal fall. Investigators are examining several possibilities, including financial difficulties, suicide, an accidental fall or other circumstances that may have contributed to his death.
