Burdwan: The authorities at Burdwan Medical College & Hospital (BMCH) have issued a strict advisory banning all forms of protests and agitational activities on campus with immediate effect, following a call by students for a 12-hour hunger strike.Students at BMCH had previously announced plans to hold a 12-hour hunger strike on July 24, from 9 am to 9 pm, to protest the NEET paper leak and demand the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.Following the announcement, BMCH authorities and local administration officials held discussions with student representatives on Thursday to review the situation.On Friday, principal of the college, Sabyasachi Das, issued an official advisory placing a total ban on demonstrations on the institute premises.

According to the advisory, the restriction was implemented to ensure that patient care services and academic activities remain completely uninterrupted.The ban covers sit-in demonstrations (dharnas) and assemblies, protests, rallies, and processions, slogan-shouting, postering, bannering, and displaying placards. It also includes any other form of agitation.The order applies across the entire BMCH campus, including the medical college, main hospital, Tertiary Cancer Care Centre, Anamoy Super Speciality Hospital, student hostels, and all other establishments under the principal’s administrative control.Das declined to speak on the advisory, directing all queries to the DM of East Burdwan.
