Lucknow: Reacting to the demolition of a mosque built in 1911 in the Saharanpur Collectorate complex, UP Congress president Ajay Rai on Saturday accused BJP govt of weakening state’s social harmony through “bulldozer politics”.Describing the demolition as “heartbreaking and shameful”, Rai said politics based on hate and division could neither strengthen society nor promote brotherhood.“The Congress believes justice must be done to every religion, every community and every citizen in Uttar Pradesh,” Rai said.He said govt could demolish religious structures with bulldozers but could not suppress democratic voices or people’s rights.Rai said Uttar Pradesh had historically been a land of brotherhood, justice and social harmony and accused the BJP of trying to turn it into “an arena for politics of hate and division”.
