Patna: A proposed Rs 17.53-crore guest house project for serving and retired police personnel in Patna has moved a step closer to construction, with the building plan ready and the proposal under process for approval. Construction is expected to begin by the end of this year after completion of the required formalities, said officials.The facility is planned at the Bihar Police Association’s (BPA) central office premises on 2 Mangles Road and is intended to provide accommodation and allied facilities to serving and retired police personnel visiting the state capital. The project is being executed by Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation Limited (BPBCCL).BPA president Mrityunjay Kumar Singh said the guest house would offer police personnel a secure and comfortable place to stay, reducing their dependence on district guest houses, private hotels and lodges during official visits.“Police personnel visiting Patna often have to arrange accommodation in private establishments while carrying weapons, sensitive documents and official equipment. The proposed facility will help address security concerns and reduce their expenses,” he said.According to the proposed plan, the guest house will have 66 bedrooms with attached bathrooms and 12 five-bed rooms capable of accommodating around 60 people. It will also feature a hall with a seating capacity of more than 500 people, a meeting hall for over 125 attendees, three cafeterias, a gymnasium, a yoga hall, a kitchen and a dining hall that can seat 60 people at a time.The design also includes dedicated chambers with attached bathrooms for the association’s president, general secretary, treasurer and other office-bearers. A basement parking facility for around 40 vehicles, a flag-hoisting area and terrace space have also been proposed.Association officials said the project has advanced following discussions with the state govt and approval-related processes involving police headquarters.The guest house project is a long-pending demand of the BPA and was approved during a meeting of its Central Administrative Committee on March 23. Officials said the facility would strengthen infrastructure support for police personnel visiting Patna from different districts and states.
