Patna: To strengthen the city’s preparedness against monsoon-related waterlogging, Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (Buidco) has deployed engineers for overnight duty at seven key drainage pumping stations (DPS) across Patna till July 31.According to a Buidco press release, engineers will be stationed at the pumping stations from 10pm to 6am in two phases between July 15 and 31 to ensure uninterrupted pump operations and respond swiftly to any technical fault or waterlogging complaint during heavy rainfall.The arrangement covers pumping stations at Pahari, Yogipur, Saidpur, Mandiri, Rajapur-Gosaintola, Kurji and Eco Park, all considered vulnerable to waterlogging during the monsoon. Engineers have been directed to remain on-site until relieved, conduct regular inspections and ensure smooth functioning of the systems.The first phase of deployment will continue till July 22, while a second team will take over from July 23 to 31.Buidco managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar ordered the deployment as part of enhanced monsoon preparedness measures. Officials said the arrangement is in addition to the existing system under which operators work in three shifts and a 24×7 central control room monitors the city’s drainage infrastructure.The control room tracks pump operations, electricity consumption, running hours, fuel levels, pump temperature and water levels in real time. It also coordinates with the Patna Municipal Corporation to ensure prompt action during waterlogging incidents.
