At the Istiqbal-e-Ramzaan program held in Budgam, Nasir Ul Islam Farooqi, Mufti-e-Azam of Jammu & Kashmir, delivered a strong and unequivocal message against sectarianism, terrorism, and communal discord, urging society to rise above divisions and uphold the centuries-old ethos of Kashmiriyat.

Addressing scholars, community leaders, and citizens across diverse sectarian thoughts, Mufti Farooqi emphasized that ideological differences must never become a cause for hostility. “Differences in jurisprudence or interpretation are part of intellectual tradition, but hatred and division are not,” he stated, underlining that Islam stands firmly for unity, justice, and peaceful coexistence.

In a powerful condemnation of terrorism, the Mufti reiterated that violence in the name of religion is a distortion of faith. He stressed that extremism only weakens the social and moral fabric of society, while unity strengthens the collective voice of the people, especially as the holy month of Ramzaan approaches a month that calls for self-reflection, patience, and brotherhood.

The event was also graced by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who delivered a detailed lecture emphasizing inter-sect harmony and dialogue. The presence of prominent religious voices on a single platform symbolized a reassuring moment of consensus in times often marked by division.

Observers described the gathering as more than a religious congregation. it was a statement of intent. As Ramzaan nears, the collective message from Budgam was clear: unity over division, dialogue over discord, and peace over provocation safeguarding the spiritual and social fabric of the Valley.
