Berhampur: Authorities of Berhampur University have revived its day care centre by shifting the facility to a new building and adding more facilities to provide comfort to children of employees. Children up to five years of age can be accommodated in the centre.Functioning of the day care centre was stopped for over a year as the previous building had become dilapidated.“The children will get free day care facilities when their parents are at their workplace,” said vice-chancellor Geetanjali Dash. The The centre is functioning from an AC building having provision for learning, watching cartoons, playing, sleeping , among others. It houses several toys for indoor activities. Food, however, has to be brought by parents. “The centre has capacity to accommodate 10-12 children. It would be expanded if more children come for day care,” she said.“We have engaged two matrons and a female peon to look after the children. The centre is in front of the primary health centre. A nurse can reach the centre immediately, if required,” Dash added. “The centre has been decorated in such a manner that the children won’t feel bored. During their recess, parents can also visit to inspect their children’s activities. We are planning to make it more attractive by installing other facilities,” said the VC.
