Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested former district president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Suresh Chaudhary and branch manager Piyush Kumar for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs45,000 to facilitate a bank loan under a govt scheme. The action was carried out by CBI’s anti-corruption branch.Piyush, manager of a nationalised bank in the Kachhauna branch, was sent to jail along with Chaudhary.Chaudhary, a resident of Railwayganj in Kachhauna, also worked as a recovery agent in the govt where Piyush was employed.The case surfaced after Seema Devi, a resident of Kachhauna, filed a complaint with the CBI alleging that she was asked to pay bribe to secure a loan sanctioned under the CM Yuva Udyami Yojana. Seema’s application for a loan of Rs5 lakh was approved, and the file was forwarded to the Kachhauna branch for further processing and disbursement. Seema alleged that Piyush, acting through Chaudhary, demanded Rs45,000 as a bribe. The CBI laid a trap and caught Chaudhary red-handed.Following the arrest, the CBI initiated legal proceedings against the accused and began searching for Piyush, who was arrested later from Hardoi.while, a video of former nagar panchayat councillor Ranjit Rai Gautam surfaced on social media in which he is reportedly seen attending a sector review meeting with Chaudhary when some officials arrive in a car and took both for questioning.During questioning, Gautam reportedly stated that the matter was related to a bank fraud investigation.
