T’puram: Two police personnel were injured, after two brothers accused in an attempt-to-murder case allegedly attacked officers while they were being arrested at Poonkulam in Vizhinjam on Thursday.The arrested accused are Yadu, 24, and his younger brother Ananthu, 21, both of Thiruvallom. Police said Ananthu is a history-sheeter and is included in the rowdy list of Thiruvallom police station. The duo were produced before a court and remanded.The injured policemen were CPO C P Rakesh, 35, and SCPO V U Vinayakumar, 40, attached to Vizhinjam police station. According to the police, Rakesh suffered a fracture on his nose after Ananthu allegedly struck him with his hand while still wearing handcuffs. Vinayakumar suffered injuries to his neck after he was allegedly attacked with a key during the scuffle.Police said the brothers were wanted in connection with an attack on Vishnu, a native of Venganoor. Police alleged that the assault stemmed from an argument over not giving way to a motorcycle near Venganoor Junction. The accused, along with three others, allegedly chased Vishnu to Mukkola, rammed his motorcycle, and hacked him with a weapon, leaving him with injuries to his shoulder and back. He is undergoing treatment.Further probe is under way.
