Kalyan: A brother and sister allegedly attempted suicide by slitting their wrists at a lodge near Kalyan railway station on Thursday. Both were rescued in time and are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.The injured have been identified as Sunil Belshekar (56) and Padmaja Belshekar (53).According to the police, the siblings, who are residents of Asangaon, had come to Kalyan and checked into the Maharashtra Lodge near the railway station. On Thursday morning they allegedly attempted to end their lives by slitting the veins in their wrists.After receiving information about the incident through lodge staff, police rushed to the spot and shifted both of them to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa for treatment.Baliramsingh Pardeshi, senior police inspector of Mahatma Phule police station said, “We have found suicide note which they had written which shows that the siblings had been unemployed for a long time and were allegedly battling depression due to financial hardship and the lack of employment. This is reason both taking the extreme step”.Pardeshi said, “Both Sunil and Padmaja are currently under medical care and their condition is stable, officials said.
