A 61-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman who suffered “stab wounds” and died following a crash.
Eleanor Barnfield, 47, died in hospital after police were called to a crash on Coity Road in Bridgend on Monday, where they found she had “puncture wounds unrelated to the collision”. The BBC understands they were sustained in a stabbing.
Clifford Foster, of Ger-y-Nant, was arrested on Tuesday at the Ger-y-Nant retirement housing complex, close to where the crash happened, where Eleanor worked.
Speaking only to confirm his name, age and address, Foster appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Friday, wearing a grey tracksuit and using a crutch to support himself.
