Srinagar, Sep 12: All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) chairman and senior political leader Jagmohan Raina has described the 18th BRICS Summit as an encouraging development, saying the grouping provides an important platform for countries to discuss economic development, security, cooperation and global stability.

In a statement, Raina said BRICS has emerged as a significant international forum where major economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, Iran and Saudi Arabia, can exchange views on issues affecting their countries and the wider global community.

He said the summit offers an opportunity to deliberate on resilience, innovation, trade, finance, cooperation and sustainability.

“Whenever world leaders sit across the table and engage in meaningful dialogue, it creates opportunities to address differences, resolve issues and build greater cooperation among nations,” Raina said.

He stressed that such platforms were important for promoting peace and economic stability, adding that direct engagement between leaders could help address bilateral and global challenges and find practical solutions.

Raina also called for stronger economic ties among participating countries and greater opportunities in trade, investment and development.

At the same time, he said major economies such as the United States, United Kingdom and Japan should also be part of broader global dialogue platforms to create a more inclusive mechanism for addressing international challenges.

“The younger generation across the world wants cooperation rather than confrontation. They want world leaders to work together on peace, economic development, security and sustainability,” he said.

Raina expressed hope that the BRICS deliberations would produce meaningful outcomes and strengthen cooperation, peace and economic stability among nations.
