Bhubaneswar: Senior education officials from Brics member countries on Thursday held extensive deliberations on the proposed Brics education ministers’ declaration at the third Brics education senior officials’ meeting in Bhubaneswar.Convened by the Union ministry of education, the meeting brought together senior officials and delegates from Brics nations to review key proposals aimed at strengthening educational cooperation among member countries.The discussions centred on the draft ministers’ declaration, including the proposed Brics guiding principles on traditional and indigenous knowledge systems. Delegates also deliberated on expanding collaboration in early childhood care and education, technical and vocational education and training, skills development, collaborative research and innovation, mutual recognition of qualifications and academic leadership.Officials exchanged views and recommendations on the draft outcomes, working towards a consensus ahead of the ministerial meeting. They reaffirmed their commitment to building inclusive, resilient and future-ready education systems through stronger institutional partnerships, capacity building and greater knowledge sharing across Brics countries.The senior officials’ meeting is part of the three-day Brics education engagement being hosted in Bhubaneswar from Aug 5 to 7 under India’s chairship, with the education ministers’ meeting expected to adopt the declaration and outline the bloc’s future agenda for educational cooperation.
