Hisar: A late-night drinking session among friends on a farm turned fatal in Hansi’s Dharmkheri village, with 23-year-old boxer Deepak allegedly being beaten to death with beer bottles following a quarrel. His blood-soaked body was found on the roof of a tubewell on Wednesday morning, with broken glass scattered around him.Police said Deepak had gone to the fields on Tuesday night for agricultural work when he met his friend, Prince, and some other youths. The group allegedly decided to have a drinking party on the tubewell roof. During the gathering, a quarrel broke out between Deepak and the others.Police suspect that Deepak was attacked with broken beer bottles during the fight. His body was allegedly left on one side of the tubewell roof as the accused fled. The body remained there overnight. The incident came to light around 8am on Wednesday when a neighbouring farmer arrived to work in the fields and noticed Deepak’s motorcycle parked near the tubewell. He called out several times but received no response. On searching the area, he climbed onto the roof and found Deepak lying in a pool of blood. He immediately alerted the police. A team from Bass police station reached the spot, followed by forensic experts, who collected evidence. Police found broken liquor bottles and shards of glass at several places on the roof. More bottles, packets of snacks and a hookah were also found on a mattress, indicating that the group had been drinking there. Police said injury marks were found on Deepak’s head and waist.As per sources, Deepak’ and Prince trained at the same boxing academy in Meham. After completing Class 12, Deepak had taken up farming. He owned around five acres of agricultural land and had leased another seven acres, which he cultivated with his father, Hoshiar Singh.
