T’puram: Two unidentified men hurled four bombs at a house at Puthukari Vayal in Chirayinkeezhu on Monday morning, while nine members of a family were inside. Three bombs exploded, but the family, including house owner Vijayan, his wife Girija, their children and daughters-in-law, escaped unhurt.The attack took place around 12.45am. The fourth bomb, which failed to explode, was recovered from the premises and later defused. The family members came out of the house after hearing the explosions.The police have obtained CCTV footage showing two men arriving on a motorcycle and throwing the explosives at the house. The men were wearing helmets and raincoats. The police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the attackers.Chirayinkeezhu Police have registered a case and launched a probe. The team suspects that personal enmity could be behind the attack but said the exact motive would emerge only during further investigation. The police are also examining whether the attackers were from the locality.The incident comes days after a similar attack on the house of CPM local committee member and former grama panchayat member Beeja Suresh at Puthukari Avittam Veedu in Chirayinkeezhu. Three explosives were hurled at her house by a group that arrived on a motorcycle wearing raincoats. Two exploded inside the gate, while another landed in the sit-out but failed to explode.Beeja’s husband Suresh, their 13-year-old daughter and elderly parents were inside the house at the time. They escaped unhurt. The police are examining whether the two incidents are connected.The latest attack is also the third such incident reported in the area, according to the police.
