Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary M V Govindan on Tuesday said UDF govt in Keralam was acting as the B-team of Sangh Parivar. This was more than evident in govt’s decision to set up a special investigation team for a probe against leader of the opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter Veena T and former minister Mohamed Riyas as recommended by ED, he said.Addressing the media at AKG Centre, Govindan said Keralam was governed by a coalition of Modi, ED and V D Satheesan. He said UDF govt was giving all support to probe agencies that BJP govt at Centre let loose against opposition leaders. “UDF govt is supporting the ED move targeting Vijayan, Riyas and Veena. That’s why the state govt has asked DGP to probe on ED’s letter,” he said. The ED case is based on contrived statements, he added.CPM isn’t wary of any investigation, but UDF govt’s special interest in the ED recommendation is suspicious, Govindan said. He said Punjab and Tamil Nadu govts had earlier rejected such recommendations from ED against political leaders. CPM will fight the move both legally and politically, he added.Govindan criticised chief minister V D Satheesan’s travel in a chartered flight, which the CM said was provided to him free of cost. “It’s not a crime to travel by aeroplane. But CM has the responsibility to reveal who paid for the travel,” he said.He said LSGI minister K M Shaji violated rules by using a luxury vehicle of a third party as his official vehicle. “No minister can obtain permission for the same as claimed by the minister,” he said. The explanations by KPCC president and power minister Sunny Joseph supporting Shaji were ridiculous, he added. Joseph had said Shaji saved govt funds by using a third party’s vehicle as his official vehicle.
