NEW DELHI: Multiple schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails on Thursday evening, triggering security checks across the premises. The threats were later declared hoaxes after thorough search operations, news agency PTI reported.Security personnel searched the school premises but found no suspicious objects, officials said.“Following a thorough search, the threat turned out to be a hoax,” a police officer said. The threats came amid heightened security arrangements across parts of the national capital ahead of a proposed protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday. As per the PTI report, several companies of paramilitary forces would be deployed in and around Connaught Place and Jantar Mantar to maintain law and order during the protest, titled “Lehra Do Tiranga”, scheduled to be held at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5pm on October 16.Police personnel will be stationed at strategic locations, while barricades will be erected and the movement of protesters and commuters regulated to prevent any untoward incident.A senior police officer said Connaught Place was not a designated protest site. Jantar Mantar has also been denotified as a designated protest venue. Demonstrations can instead be held at Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground or CBD Ground after obtaining the required permission. The proposed protest follows the arrest of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after they reached Jantar Mantar. They were subsequently remanded to five days of judicial custody by a special executive magistrate, PTI reported.(With agency inputs)
