Gurgaon: A private school in Baliyawas received a bomb threat email on Wednesday. Police teams from DLF Phase-1 station, along with dog squad, bomb disposal squad, and other specialised units, rushed to the spot and carried out a thorough search of the entire school premises, including classrooms, buildings, and surrounding areas.“No suspicious object or explosive material was found during the checking, and the premises of Pathways School has been declared safe. The email was a hoax, but the matter is being treated with seriousness. We have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender,” said a senior police official.
The mail was sent to the school at 1.30 am. The school management saw the email at 8.30am. Police were then informed, and teams arrived around 8.45am. The bomb squad, along with a dog unit, searched the entire campus. However, prioritising the students’ safety, the classes were dismissed at 10.30am.Earlier this month, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national was arrested for sending a series of bomb hoax emails to around 40 schools in Jan, triggering panic, evacuations, and large-scale security checks.The man, Saurabh Vishwas, alias Michael, was picked up from Ahmedabad on Thursday after a technical investigation by Cyber South police station traced his role in generating email accounts allegedly used to send the threats.Police said he entered India about nine years ago from Khulna via an illegal route and lived in West Bengal using forged identity documents. He initially worked odd jobs in Barrackpore before learning digital marketing and graphic design at local printing shops.For the past five years, police said, Vishwas has been working as a freelance designer and was involved in creating bulk email IDs.ACP (cybercrime) Priyanshu Dewan told TOI that he had generated and shared nearly 300 gmail accounts with another Bangladeshi national, Mamunur Rashid, who is suspected to be operating from Dhaka. Some of these accounts were allegedly used to send the hoax emails.
