Bokaro: Fifty-nine police personnel in Bokaro were trained on Friday to provide emergency care to road accident victims during the crucial “golden hour”, when timely first aid and swift response can significantly improve chances of survival.The training was held at the First Aid-cum-Disaster Training Academy in Chas on the direction of DC Ajay Nath Jha. It focused on enabling police personnel to assist accident victims before they reach hospital.SP Bokaro Nathu Singh Meena directed all police patrol vehicles to carry first aid kits, a bedsheet and a 5-metre rope to make temporary stretchers. He also announced that police personnel who save lives during accidents will be rewarded and the achievement recorded in their service books.Traffic DSP Ajay Kumar said prompt first aid can be critical, especially in cases of severe bleeding, where excessive blood loss can quickly become fatal.“The police personnel received practical training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, basic treatment for fractures and other injuries, and safe transportation of victims to medical facilities. They were also advised to reach accident sites without delay after receiving information and ensure that injured persons receive immediate medical attention,” said the DSP Traffic.Civil defence wardens SP Sharma and Jai Prakash Singh briefed participants on the role of police patrol teams during emergencies, explained accident response plans and demonstrated how to help victims while ensuring the safety of rescuers.Calling it “life-saving training”, DC Ajay Nath Jha said, “Such training is essential not only for police personnel but for every citizen, as basic first aid knowledge can help save a life during an emergency.”SP Bokaro said, “During road accidents and other natural disasters, this training becomes extremely important. Before an injured person reaches the hospital, we can protect and save a citizen’s life, and this is why such training is essential.”
