Bokaro: A 19-year-old man and his parents were arrested on charges of strangulating the man’s 20-year-old ‘girlfriend’ and hanging her body from a tree to make it appear as suicide in Bokaro district, police said.Aarti Hembrom was found hanging with a scarf near the forest area in Chattigoda under Bancha village in Jaridih police station limits on August 5. Following a complaint lodged by her mother, a case was registered and a special investigation team led by SDPO Bermo Ravinder Singh began the probe into the incident.SP Nathu Singh Meena said, “The investigation revealed that Aarti was in a relationship with Manoj Marandi (19) for nearly one-and-a-half years. Manoj had allegedly brought her to his house on August 2, promising marriage. A dispute arose after his parents, Nazir Marandi (60) and Saraswati Devi (55), opposed keeping her at home, while Aarti insisted on staying. The trio allegedly strangled Aarti on August 4 and later hung her body from a tree to stage it as suicide. Aarti’s mobile phone and clothes were recovered from the accused’s house. All three have been sent to judicial custody.”
