Bokaro: A 40-year-old man was declared dead at a hospital here after he collapsed while playing a game of football at Naya Basti under Armo panchayat in the district on Friday. The deceased Kajra Murmu, a resident of Khambhra under IEL Gomia area, was playing for a side which was competing in a football tournament organised by a local club. Kajra’s son Nikhil was in the audience when he collapsed while vying for the ball.His teammates from Hansda XI took him to DVC Hospital, where on-duty doctor Dr Arvind Kumar declared him dead on arrival. Bajrang Club, the organisers, cancelled the tournament after Kajra’s death. “The tournament will be named in his honour from next year. The prize money of Rs 1 lakh, which was meant for the winning team, will be given to Kajra’s family,” Jitendra Yadav, patron of the organising committee of the tournament, said.“The body has been sent for postmortem examination before it is handed over to the family members,” Bermo sub-divisional police officer Ravinder Singh said.
