Bokaro: The district administration has launched the process to develop 10 model solar villages under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, in a push towards clean and sustainable energy in rural areas. Officials have been directed to identify suitable villages across blocks and ensure bank-linked loan support for beneficiaries to expedite rooftop solar power adoption.Bokaro deputy commissioner Bokaro Ajay Nath Jha said the focus is on execution and selection of villages. “We are focused on the effective implementation of the scheme and road map for identifying suitable villages across different blocks. Officials have been directed to select villages where community participation and successful execution of the programme can be ensured. Once identified, the villages will be developed as model centres for solar-powered growth and energy efficiency,” he said. The administration has also stressed on easier access to finance so more households can participate in the process. Banks and financial institutions will be encouraged to extend loan facilities to eligible families, enabling installation of rooftop solar systems under the scheme.Jha said the programme is expected to deliver several benefits of rural communities. “Besides reducing monthly electricity expenses, it will promote the use of renewable energy and contribute to environmental conservation,” he said.Officials said the model solar villages are intended to act as demonstration sites for other areas, helping drive wider adoption of solar power across the district.
