Dhubri: An unidentified man’s body was recovered from the Brahmaputra at Chandipara under Fakirganj police station on Thursday morning.Villagers spotted the body floating in the river and alerted police, who reached the site in a motorboat and recovered it.Fakirganj police station officer-in charge Bipul Das said an identity card found on the body suggested that the deceased could be Sambhab Deka, 32, a Baihata Chariali resident serving in the 17 APBN.“Accordingly, we have already informed his family members, and they are on the way to Dhubri to identify the body, and thereafter we can confirm it is the body of Sambhab Deka,” Das added.A source said Deka’s family identified him from a photograph sent by police. The family reportedly told police that he jumped into the Brahmaputra from Saraighat Bridge on Thursday. Formal identification was awaited.
