Kanpur: The body of a 40-year-old man was found inside his house in the Yashodanagar area on Saturday morning after neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from the residence for the past few days.After being alerted, Naubasta police reached the spot and knocked on the door but received no response. Police later climbed the boundary wall and entered the premises, where they found the man’s body lying on the floor of a room.The deceased was identified as Rahul, a private employee.According to police, Rahul was addicted to alcohol and frequently quarrelled with his wife over his drinking habits.Family members said his wife had allegedly left the house with their children a day before Raksha Bandhan following a heated argument between the couple. His elder brother, Rohit Mishra, informed police that Rahul’s wife had refused to return home.The woman later told police that Rahul often quarrelled with and assaulted her under the influence of alcohol, following which she left for her parental home with the children.Naubasta SHO said the body has been sent for autopsy and further action would be taken on the basis of the report.
