Jaipur: The body of a 13-year-old girl was found in Bikaner Saturday while she was on her way to appear for her Class 8 board examination.Police said some of her clothes were found torn. A senior police official told TOI that the girl left home from a nearby hamlet to take her Class 8 board exam at her school, but she never reached the examination centre. When school teachers informed the family that she did not arrive, relatives began searching and later found her body in bushes.After family members alerted the police, a team reached the spot, secured the area, and called the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to collect evidence. “The girl’s body was recovered. The FSL team reached the spot. The post-mortem report (PMR) will ascertain whether there was a sexual assault prior to the murder. Police are investigating the matter,” a senior official said.Police said they were examining technical evidence, including CCTV footage, and were also identifying and questioning people who passed through the area around the time she went missing. A dedicated team of police officials was assigned to the case.Sources said the minor used to walk about from her home to the school everyday. Her Class 8 board examinations were under way, and she left home in the afternoon to appear for the exam. When she did not reach the centre, the school administration informed the family.According to the family, the girl left home at around 12:15 pm, and at about 1:46 pm they received information from the school administration that she did not reach the school. After this, the family began looking for her and also informed their relatives to help them.
