JAISALMER: The bodies of an 18-year-old Pakistani man and a 15-year-old girl were found about 12 km inside the Indian territory in the Sadhewala area of Jaisalmer district Saturday evening. The bodies, which appeared to be around four to five days old and have since blackened and dried, were discovered by from Sadhewala village on the sandy dunes. Pakistani mobile SIM cards and ID cards found on their persons confirmed their Pakistani nationality. It was suspected that both died of hunger and thirst. High-ranking police and BSF personnel reached the scene, and the bodies was taken to the Ramgarh mortuary where the cause of death will be ascertained after a post-mortem. It remains unclear whether the couple crossed over from Pakistan or has been in India already.Official said on condition of anonymity that a shepherd passing through Gajesingh’s village reported seeing the bodies on the dunes to the police at Tanot police station on Friday. The police informed the BSF, and officers from both forces arrived at the scene to begin investigations.As per the identity documents on the two bodies, the young man was identified as Ravi Kumar (18) and the girl as Shanti (15). BSF IG ML Garg said a search operation is underway along the border area, but no evidence or footprints of crossing from the Pakistani side have been found, yet.
