Shivamogga/Bidar: A 50-year-old booth level officer (BLO) tragically passed away after collapsing while conducting special intensive revision (SIR) work at Kodi Hosuru village near Kallapura in Bhadravathi taluk on Monday afternoon.The deceased was identified as H Manjula, an anganwadi teacher in Kallapura, and was concurrently handling election-related duties as a BLO in Shivamogga rural assembly constituency.According to initial reports, Manjula was actively engaged in data collection and revision tasks alongside a village accountant (VA) and other administrative assistants at the local anganwadi centre in Kodi Hosuru. During work, she collapsed onto the floor from her chair. She was immediately rushed to the nearby primary health centre (PHC) in Arabilachi for emergency medical attention. Given her critical condition, she was subsequently shifted to the Bhadravathi Taluk Hospital for advanced treatment. There, she was confirmed to have breathed her last before reaching the hospital.Medical authorities suspect a sudden, massive cardiac arrest to be the cause of death.Following the tragic incident, Bhadravathi taluk tahsildar Pradeep Devagiri visited the govt hospital to inspect the situation, coordinate formal procedures, and offer condolences to the grieving family members.Kallapura village falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Arakere gram panchayat.A case regarding the sudden demise was registered at the Holehonnur posice Station, and further investigations are under way.Speaking to TOI, tahsildar Pradeep said Manjula was working as an anganwadi teacher in Kallapura and was deployed as BLO for polling station number 211 under the Shivamogga rural jurisdiction.Authorities stated that the exact cause will be confirmed only after a postmortem examination. Preliminary inquiries indicate that she had no history of chronic health conditions or medical illness, Pradeep said.Heart attack claims BLO during SIR dutyA booth-level officer (BLO), who was also a teacher, died of a heart attack while performing duties related to the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Amalapur village of Bidar taluk.The deceased has been identified as Sunil, 45, a resident of Donagapur village in Bhalki taluk. He was serving as a teacher in Amalapur and had been appointed as a BLO for the SIR of the voter list, which commenced on June 30.On Saturday, while carrying out SIR duties at booth No. 33 in Amalapur village, Sunil reportedly suffered a heart attack and collapsed. He was rushed to a private hospital in Bidar city for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he succumbed late on Saturday night.A case has been registered at Gandhi Gunj police station.
