Nagpur: With five days left in the extended Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration phase, Nagpur district administration has roped in political parties and their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to help trace 9,60,730 electors whose Enumeration Forms have been categorised as “uncollectable”.The figure, as of Aug 12, accounts for 20.71% of Nagpur’s 46.38 lakh electors. District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, while reviewing the SIR exercise, directed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to coordinate with BLAs to trace such electors and ensure eligible voters are not left out.The uncollectable category includes electors marked absent, migrated, deceased or duplicate. Their status will have to be verified before finalisation of the electoral roll.Polling-station-wise lists of such electors have been provided to BLOs. As per Election Commission directions, BLOs will share the lists with respective party-appointed BLAs and seek their help in locating electors at their registered addresses or contacting them. Enumeration Forms will be collected if an eligible voter is traced.Ashirwad also directed BLOs to update the lists daily and share revised information with BLAs. Details of action taken have to be uploaded on ECINET, Election Commission’s app.Nagpur has nearly completed form distribution. As of 3 pm on Aug 12, 45,85,202 forms, or 98.85%, had been distributed, while 31,05,920, or 66.96%, had been digitised. Rural Nagpur recorded 99.37% distribution and 75.35% digitisation, compared with 98.38% and 59.44%, respectively, across six city constituencies.Of the 9,60,730 uncollectable forms, 4,41,120 are from six rural constituencies and 5,19,610 from the city. Nagpur Central has the highest proportion at 31.40%, followed by Nagpur South West at 29.77% and Hingna at 26.49%.Officials stressed that categorisation as uncollectable does not mean automatic deletion from the electoral roll. Lists of absent, migrated, deceased and duplicate electors will also be displayed after publication of the draft roll on notice boards of designated govt offices and websites of District Election Officer and Chief Electoral Officer.The administration’s immediate task is to trace genuine electors who remain unreachable and separately verify cases that may warrant deletion.The extended enumeration phase ends on Aug 17, with the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on Aug 24. Electors will then get an opportunity to raise claims and objections against incorrect classifications before finalisation of the roll.
