Kanpur: The assault on a Booth Level Officer (BLO) in Etawah led to tense moments with Samajwadi Party national general secretary seeking strict action against the accused.Yadav said, “I came to sit on dharna with my people. This will cause problems for the police administration. We don’t want such things to happen further. Strict action should be taken against the accused in such cases.” He said the BLO was threatened and beaten up, and alleged that BJP people were involved. He said that if his party’s people started protesting on the streets, it would create a law and order situation.
To recall, a BLO in Etawah was assaulted on Tuesday, during which election-related govt documents were snatched and his mobile phone was broken.The BLO alleged that a person claiming to be a ruling party office-bearer pressured him to remove names of minority community people from the voter list. When he refused, he was assaulted, election-related documents were snatched, and he was threatened with dire consequences. The DM and SSP assured to take action. tnn
