Mumbai: The Anti Extortion Cell of the crime branch has submitted a 663-page chargesheet against Marathi television actor Hemlata Patkar and friend Amreena Zaveri alias Alice Fernandes for trying to extort Rs 1.5 crore from a builder for assaulting the latter in a lift. Amreena was pregnant and the assault by the builder’s son led to a miscarriage, she had claimed in her complaint. Two other accused-hotelier Utkarsh Vartak and Valentine Francisco Silveria alias Veli have been shown as absconding accused. Police have issued lookout circular (LOC) and Red Corner notices (RCN) against the two (hoteliers) absconding accused. The case originated from an incident that took place on the intervening night of Nov 14–15, 2025, when Arvind Goyal’s son Rhythm, his fiancée, her brother and a friend visited a hotel in Amboli. An altercation allegedly occurred inside a lift with Amreena. Rhythm allegedly kicked the pregnant Amreena, leading her to miscarriage. Amreena registered an FIR with the Amboli police. Rhythm was arrested in the case and later granted bail. However, Amreena filed an intervention petition before the Bombay High Court and got his bail cancelled. After the bail proceedings, Hemlata Patkar allegedly contacted Arvind, claiming to be a relative of Amreena, and offered to “settle” the matter. Builder Goyal, who did not wish to pay the amount, laid a trap and got Amreena and Hemlata arrested while allegedly accepting Rs 1.5 crore. Police alleged that Hemlata, Amreena, along with hotelier Utkarsh and Valentine, conspired to extort money from builder Goyal by threatening to sabotage court proceedings related to a criminal case registered against his son at Amboli police station.
