T’puram: BJP state unit has submitted a memorandum to the Keralam governor seeking appropriate constitutional action against minister O J Janeesh over alleged breach of ministerial oath and suspected involvement in a case related to an alleged attempt to obstruct Union home minister Amit Shah’s convoy in Kollam. The memorandum, submitted by BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Oct 2, concerns Crime No. 1984/2026 registered at Kollam East police station against four persons, stated to be Youth Congress members. The case relates to an incident on Sept 26 when Shah was in the state to attend official programmes.BJP alleged that Janeesh, who is also the Youth Congress state president, posted videos from the scene and referred to an organisational decision linked to the incident. The post was deleted after media reported on the matter, the memorandum said.BJP said the circumstances raised questions about the minister’s alleged prior knowledge of the incident and possible involvement in the abetment or conspiracy related to the case. The party also alleged that the police had not named the minister a co-accused under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2025.The memorandum expressed apprehension that the minister’s position and influence could affect the investigation.BJP urged the governor to seek a detailed report from the investigating authorities and a report from chief minister V D Satheesan on the allegations against the minister and the alleged breach of ministerial oath.It also sought an examination of whether Janeesh’s alleged conduct was consistent with his constitutional oath and requested appropriate constitutional action, including consideration of withdrawal of the governor’s pleasure under Article 164 of the Constitution, if warranted.
