Churachandpur: BJP workers of Thanlon Mandal in Churachandpur district on Monday staged a sit-in protest at the gate of Churachandpur Medical College, where the mortal remains of MLA Vungzagin Valte are kept in cold storage.
The protesters demanded justice for Valte, who succumbed to his injuries after struggling with his health for about three years following alleged torture by a mob in Imphal at the beginning of the Manipur violence in 2023. Participants in the dharna held placards reading “Assembly Resumes, Justice Still Waiting”, “Arrest Attackers”, “Justice For Pu Vungzagin Valte”, and “Hold Arambai Tengol Accountable”, among others.
