In a press statement, BJP CADC said CYLA members visited Parva village under CADC on Feb 13 and erected a boundary pillar declaring the area as belonging to the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC). The party termed the move unilateral and said it triggered resentment and condemnation among CADC residents.Durjya Dhan Chakma said the act was unwarranted and highly provocative, and warned it could disturb the long-standing peaceful coexistence and brotherhood between the Chakma and Lai communities. He said boundary-related issues must be resolved through constitutional and administrative mechanisms, not unilateral actions by any organisation. The statement said that during 1972–1977, after the re-organisation of the Pawi-Lakher Autonomous Region, a joint boundary verification was conducted between CADC and LADC. It said the then chief executive member of CADC, Nilmoni Chakma, represented the council during the demarcation process and that no dispute was reported at the time. It added that the eastern boundary was defined in the Pawi-Lakher Autonomous Region (Re-organisation) Order, 1972, following the natural boundary marked by the stream Sanghatuilo Lui (Rangapanisora in Chakma), supported by Survey Height Point 405.The BJP delegation urged the governor to order a thorough investigation and to take immediate steps to remove the allegedly illegal boundary pillar to prevent escalation of tension. The party also appealed to all sections to maintain peace, harmony and communal unity while the matter is addressed by the competent authority.“The governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that necessary steps would be taken at the earliest,” the statement said.
