Kalaburagi: High drama prevailed at the general body meeting of the Kalaburagi City Corporation on Wednesday, as opposition BJP members protested by closing the doors of the Indira Memorial Hall and locking them.Except for four members of the ruling Congress party, none of the other members came even after 12 pm to the general body meeting, which was supposed to start at 11 am on Wednesday. Members of the opposition party, who were disgusted by this, alleged that the ruling party members did not have any interest in coming to the meeting. They questioned their concern for the development of the city.
BJP corporators walked out of the hall. Later, they protested by closing the main door. The BJP members sitting across the door of the hall raised slogans against district minister Priyank Kharge and Congress MLAs Allam Prabhu Patil and Khaneez Fatima, and shouted that the administrative machinery of the corporation was derailed.Opposition leader Shobha Desai and former mayor Vishal Dargi said that they are interested in discussing people’s problems, but only politics is important for the ruling party. He thundered that by closing the door, they are questioning the ruling party, and the govt’s responsibility towards citizens’ problems.Senior BJP members Vijayakumar Sewalani, Mallu Udunur and Veeranna Honnalli participated in the protest, and closed the doors of the Indira Memorial Hall, and prevented anyone from entering.
