Lucknow: Signalling an aggressive push ahead of the next Assembly elections, the UP BJP OBC Morcha has unveiled plans of an extensive social outreach campaign aimed at reaching families belonging to all 75 major backward caste groups across the state.The strategy will attain centre stage during the BJP OBC Morcha’s one-day state executive meeting scheduled to be held in Mathura on July 12. The occasion would see party leaders deliberating on expanding the BJP’s social base among all OBC groups, strengthening booth-level structures and countering the opposition’s PDA poll narrative, which is said to have dented the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, bringing its tally down from 62 to 33.UP minister and state BJP OBC Morcha chief Narendra Kashyap said the meeting will serve as the formal launchpad for the party’s preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections and lay out a roadmap for deeper engagement with backward communities.He said that the programme seeks to connect directly with families from all major OBC communities and familiarise them with the BJP’s nationalist ideology as well as the governance and development agenda being pursued under PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath. He said that the party will discuss a comprehensive strategy involving family-contact campaigns, social expansion initiatives, grassroots communication networks and booth empowerment mechanisms.Kashyap squarely criticised the PDA narrative, alleging that it seeks to divide society along caste lines. He asserted that the BJP’s approach is based on the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.”Political observers view the move as part of the BJP’s continuing effort to consolidate its hold over non-Yadav OBC voters, a social bloc that has played a critical role in the party’s electoral successes in Uttar Pradesh over the past decade. By broadening its outreach beyond traditional support bases and targeting individual families rather than merely community leaders, the BJP appears to be attempting to institutionalise its support among backward caste groups ahead of a potentially competitive 2027 contest.Beyond political messaging, the executive meeting is expected to focus extensively on organisational matters. Discussions will cover membership expansion, booth strengthening, social contact campaigns, upcoming political programmes and measurable targets for 2027.The selection of Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, carries both symbolic and political significance. BJP leaders say the gathering will promote the themes of social harmony, cultural nationalism and commitment to nation-building.The meeting is scheduled to begin with Vedic rituals, including a havan and prayers conducted by saints and religious leaders. Participants will also be administered pledges related to cow protection, environmental conservation and ecological awareness, reflecting the party’s attempt to blend cultural messaging with organisational mobilisation.Senior BJP leaders expected to attend include CM Yogi Adityanath, deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, UP BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary, BJP state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh and BJP OBC Morcha national president and Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman.
