Chandigarh: Reacting to the acquittal of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and party leader Manish Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy case, Punjab AAP president Aman Arora on Friday called it a “victory of truth and justice”.Addressing the media, Arora said the acquittal proved that justice can be delayed, but truth cannot be killed. “Today, the court exposed the bundle of lies that was fabricated by the BJP-led Centre through its agencies,” he added. Arora was joined by AAP ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Hardeep Singh Mundian.Arora said the special court completely rejected the “baseless and fabricated conspiracy” created by the BJP to politically destroy Kejriwal. “For nearly 6 months, a sitting chief minister was dragged from his home and put behind bars. Manish Sisodia was kept in jail for nearly two years. All this was done only to defame them, to crush their political existence, and to destroy their growing popularity,” said Arora.Punjab AAP president said the court also made strong observations against the investigating agencies. He said, “The court clearly observed that there was no prima facie case. The prosecution theory was nothing more than mere conjecture. The CBI tried to construct a narrative of conspiracy, but there was absolutely no substance,” he said.Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, he demanded a public apology. He said, “Modi and Shah owe an apology to the people of this country. They must apologise for this conspiracy that was hatched to end the political career of Kejriwal.”Meanwhile, finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema claimed that the acquittal of Kejriwal and other AAP leaders “exposed the politically motivated conspiracy” of the BJP. Cheema said the verdict made it clear before the entire nation that the case was fabricated through the misuse of central agencies in an attempt to defame and politically eliminate the AAP leadership.“The BJP orchestrated a conspiracy against AAP by misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Today, it became clear before the people in the country how these agencies were misused for political purposes,” Cheema said.“The Constitution does not belong to the BJP or to any single party. It belongs to Babasaheb Ambedkar and to 140 crore Indians. It was created to ensure that people can live with dignity and receive quality education. But the BJP cannot digest the fact that Kejriwal and Sisodia are delivering quality education to the poor,” he said.BOX: AAP celebrates verdict The AAP workers celebrated the court verdict in the Delhi excise policy case at the party office in Chandigarh and were joined by ministers, including Harpal Singh Cheema, Aman Arora, Hardeep Singh Mundian, and Harjot Singh Bains. The AAP leaders and workers danced to the beats of dhol, performed bhangra, and distributed ladoos to mark what they described as the “victory of truth and honest politics”. Addressing the gathering, the leaders said the court’s verdict reaffirmed people’s faith in the judiciary and exposed what they termed as politically motivated allegations against AAP’s top leadership.
