Mumbai: Days after Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut claimed that PM Narendra Modi would not remain in his post beyond April next year, BJP minister Nitesh Rane hit back, warning of a possible arrest of his party’s MLA Aaditya Thackeray before the year ends.He said Raut should instead worry about whether “his owner’s son will be celebrating New Year at Matoshree or in Arthur Road jail”. “Our govt will not fall by April. There is no such possibility. PM Modi lives in people’s hearts. Worry whether your owner’s son will stay out till Dec or Jan 2027. Will he see the 2027 sunrise sitting in Matoshree? You worry about that… Not a single prediction has so far come true.”BJP spokesperson Navnath Ban slammed Raut for another recent claim that political killings and rival assassinations in the state could go up under the current regime. “The people of Maharashtra did the work of politically assassinating your party in the assembly and municipal elections. You could not even crack a pumpkin in the panchayat and zilla parishad elections.”He panned Shiv Sena (UBT), saying it had opposed the setting up of a refinery in the Konkan region as well as the establishment of data centres but also complained about unemployment. “It complains about projects going to Gujarat but opposes them when they come to Maharashtra. It is the duty of the opposition to bring flaws to govt’s notice so that they can be corrected, but opposing everything is wrong,” he said.
