Ranchi: State BJP president Aditya Sahu demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress, saying the Election Commission’s joint statement on Saturday had exposed the opposition’s allegations about the electoral process and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He accused the Congress and INDIA bloc parties of undermining the EC and Supreme Court for political gains.“The joint statement issued by the EC on Saturday made it clear that all key decisions related to the SIR were taken unanimously by the three election commissioners. The order issued on June 24, 2025, initiating the SIR process, as well as the schedules for its different phases, were also approved unanimously,” he said.Rejecting claims of differences within the poll panel, Sahu said SC had upheld the legal validity of the SIR process on May 27. “Despite this, the opposition continues to question the poll panel and malign the image of a constitutional body,” he said.Sahu said Form-6 had not been changed. “The declaration attached to Form-6 for the SIR was upheld by the Supreme Court. The existing Form-6 under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, continued to apply during the non-SIR period,” he added.State Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh rejected the demand for an apology. “It is the BJP and Gyanesh Kumar who should apologise to the people of the country for curbing their voting rights. Kumar has been working as a BJP agent, and we demand scrutiny of all major decisions taken and elections conducted during his tenure,” Mahto said.He claimed the Congress had evidence of wrongdoing by the EC and would demonstrate at district headquarters on Monday, demanding Kumar’s resignation.
