Jaipur: BJP has appointed senior party members as incharges for six divisions to oversee organisational work and election management across Rajasthan ahead of the upcoming civic elections.The appointments were made on the directions of BJP state president Madan Rathore, with lists released on Tuesday and Wednesday by party state general secretary and headquarters in charge Shravan Singh Bagri.The newly appointed incharges will coordinate with local office-bearers and grassroots workers, oversee organisational activities and assist in the selection of candidates for the elections.For Jaipur division, which includes Alwar, Dausa, Jhunjhunu and Sikar, a total of 91 incharges have been appointed. Cabinet minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Law and Legal Affairs Joga Ram Patel has been given responsibility for Jaipur Municipal Corporation, traditionally a BJP stronghold.In Jodhpur division, former MLA Narayan Singh Deval has been appointed incharge of Jodhpur city. A total of 41 party members have been assigned responsibilities across various municipalities. A BJP functionary said, “Jodhpur city is the home turf of Ashok Gehlot, but BJP has a strong parliamentary record in western Rajasthan, including Jodhpur district, and sees a good chance of defeating Congress at the grassroots level.”In Udaipur division, 28 party members have been appointed, with former minister Kankamal Katara taking charge. In Bikaner city, Om Saraswat and Mahavir Swami have been assigned organisational responsibilities.A party source acknowledged the challenges in Bikaner division, saying, “BJP’s influence has weakened over the years in Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and even Churu. The teams will have to work hard to rebuild the party’s organisation and regain its support in these areas.”In Bharatpur division, 32 members have been appointed to oversee various municipalities. In Ajmer division, 52 incharges have been appointed. Surendra Pareek has been appointed incharge of Ajmer Rural and Kishangarh Municipal Council, while Krishna Mohan Sharma has been assigned responsibility for Ajmer Rural and Kekri Municipal Council.“The in-charges have been tasked with strengthening the organisation, coordinating with local leaders and identifying potential candidates for the upcoming elections,” a party functionary said.
