Hyderabad: BJP’s appointment of three Telangana district unit presidents reflected more than a routine organisational reshuffle, with the announcements coming amid a renewed effort by the party’s central leadership to ease differences between senior leaders Eatala Rajender and Bandi Sanjay Kumar and improve coordination within the state unit.According to party sources, BJP national general secretary and Telangana affairs in-charge Abhay Patil played a crucial role in breaking the deadlock over the long-pending appointments and bringing leaders with differences together.Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao announced the appointment of Sai Mallesham as Karimnagar district president, U Ramesh as Vikarabad district president and Girivardhan Reddy as Medchal (urban) district president.Sources said the announcements followed a consensus building exercise by the central leadership after differences emerged over the selection of candidates for the three organisational posts. The appointments had remained pending for several weeks due to differences between the camps led by Eatala and Sanjay, sources said.The reconciliation process began a few days ago with a meeting between Eatala and Sanjay at the residence of Rajya Sabha member K Laxman. The meeting, held with the intervention of Abhay Patil, was aimed at bridging differences and creating a framework for coordination between the two senior leaders, sources said.The process gathered momentum on Wednesday afternoon when Sanjay, Eatala, MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and Laxman met over lunch in Delhi.Sources said Sanjay had concerns over some organisational selections, particularly relating to Malkajgiri. In Karimnagar, considered a key district for Sanjay, the selection of a leader closely associated with him helped address some of those concerns, sources said.The announcement of the three district presidents later in the evening indicated that the party leadership had arrived at a formula acceptable to different sections of the party, sources said.The exercise is being viewed within the Telangana BJP as an effort by the central leadership to maintain internal cohesion and strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
