TIMES NEWS NETWORKMangaluru: BJP Dakshina Kannada district president Sathish Kumpala said that chief minister DK Shivakumar does not care if the Karnataka permanent residence certificate (PRC) causes a disaster for the country, but the govt has undertaken the work of bringing such a law to strengthen the vote bank during the special intensive revision (SIR).“This is an act that poses a serious threat to constitutional, legal, and national security,” he told reporters here on Saturday. The government’s decision to issue PRCs could threaten the constitutional framework, electoral integrity and national security. Illegal immigrants may misuse the opportunity to obtain official documents and eventually find their wayinto electoral rolls,” Sathish told reporters on Saturday.“Mangaluru City police found eight Bangladeshis residing in Surathkal. Hence, the state needs stricter verification of illegal immigrants,” he said, urging the govt to identify and trace all infiltrators residing illegally in the state.The BJP leader called on the district administration to identify and verify all suspected illegal migrants working in Dakshina Kannada, urging strict action against violators. Additionally, he raised concerns over the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls, warning that the PRC policy could be exploited to legitimise illegal immigrants and add them to the voter list.
