Kanpur: Jalaun’s Orai Kotwali police have cracked the three-month-old kidnapping and brutal murder case of businessman Vijendra Mor, a resident of Jind in Haryana.Police have arrested the main accused Mohit Malik, who was absconding and carried a reward of Rs 50,000, and his wife Sapna Rani in the case. Both the accused were produced in court and sent to jail under judicial custody. At the same time, on the accused’s identification, half-burnt remains of the businessman were recovered from forests in the Jalalpur police station area of Hamirpur district. This is the high-profile case in which an Orai Kotwali police team, that had gone to Haryana for investigation and to trace the accused, had met with a road accident. In that horrific accident during the raid, five persons, including two sub-inspectors, two constables and the complainant in the case, had died. After this tragic accident, the entire case had become a major talking point from UP to Haryana. The police said Vijendra was kidnapped on the morning of May 4 from a tubewell at Riniya village of Orai. The accused took him away in a Creta car and, after killing him, poured diesel on the body and burnt it in the forests of Hamirpur with the intention of destroying evidence. After this sensational crime, police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 each on the accused.During interrogation, two main reasons behind this horrifying murder had emerged. First, Vijendra had an illicit relationship with accused Mohit Malik’s wife Sapna Rani before her marriage. Even after the marriage, Vijendra was threatening to kill both of them. The second reason was that Vijendra had a dispute over a land worth crores of rupees with one Azad Sarpanch. It was due to this enmity the murder conspiracy was hatched. About 15 days before carrying out the crime, the accused had conducted reconnaissance around Riniya Phatak.
