Bengaluru: A biker had a narrow escape after a water tanker, allegedly without a number plate, rammed his two-wheeler and ran over it while negotiating a crater-filled stretch of the under-construction Gunjur-Palya CDP Road near Panathur Tree Park Thursday morning.A video of the incident, recorded by a commuter, shows the motorcyclist carefully manoeuvring through a series of large potholes and waterlogged craters. Moments later, a water tanker travelling alongside attempts to cross one of the deep craters, loses balance and veers towards the biker, knocking him off his vehicle. Both vehicles were moving at low speed, allowing the rider to quickly jump away from the motorcycle before the tanker could run over him, potentially averting a fatal accident. The incident occurred on a partially completed stretch of the CDP road connecting SH-35 at Varthur to the Old Airport Road corridor. The road is widely used by commuters travelling between Varthur, Gunjur, Panathur and Outer Ring Road.Vidya Sagar, an eyewitness who captured the incident on camera, said he had been filming the stretch to document the dangerous road conditions. “I was recording the potholes and waterlogging because the stretch was very risky to cross. Within seconds, the accident happened in front of me,” he said.Concerns were further raised because the tanker was allegedly not displaying a registration number. Sagar claimed when residents questioned the driver after the accident, he admitted he was still learning to drive. The injured biker later filed a complaint, following which an FIR was registered.Following circulation of the video, temporary patchwork was reportedly carried out on parts of the stretch Wednesday evening.
