A disturbing video from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur has triggered widespread outrage on social media after a woman was seen physically and emotionally abusing her young daughter in public. The clip, which has gone viral, purportedly shows the woman scolding and repeatedly slapping the child on a road while passersby attempt to intervene.

Moreover, the video shows the child being forced to carry a bag filled with heavy bricks while returning home from school.

Child Forced To Carry Bricks In School Bag

In the video, the visibly distressed girl is seen struggling to walk with what appears to be an overloaded school bag. Upon being stopped by concerned bystanders, the child breaks down and reveals that bricks had been placed inside her bag.

The public interferes and ask the mother to remove the contents, and bricks are reportedly taken out on the spot. Watching this, the mother tightly slaps the girl and she is seen crying in pain as she attempts to explain the situation.

When confronted, the woman, identified in the video as the child’s mother, reacts aggressively, telling the crowd that they have no right to interfere. She is heard asserting that the child belongs to her and that she can treat her as she pleases, while also demanding that people stop recording the incident.

Locals Urge Police Intervention

As tensions escalate, bystanders are heard urging someone to call emergency services. “112 mein phone kijiye (Please call 112),” a man says in the clip, referring to the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). However, the appeal appears to go unanswered.

The woman remains defiant, reportedly responding, “Jisko phone karna hai kijiye (Call whoever you want to).” Despite repeated attempts by locals to reason with her, warning that her actions could amount to child abuse and lead to legal consequences, she continues to argue. Even after the bricks are removed from the school bag, she is allegedly seen slapping and verbally abusing the girl for crying.

Social Media Demands Action

The video has sparked a wave of condemnation online, with many users calling for immediate intervention and strict action.

“This woman needs to be brought to justice for the atrocities that she is committing on this child. This is physical abuse. The child needs to be saved,” read a comment.

Another added, “Very painful to see a child being humiliated and physically punished like this. Thank you for posting it; raising awareness is important. Requesting @NCPCR_ and child protection services to kindly intervene as soon as possible.”

“Are you even sure she’s her biological parent? Some childhood memories don’t need explanation, they need therapy. That Young girl will be needing a lot in the future. This woman ought to be arrested,” said a user.

An individual stated, “Very sad!! A girl is treated like this by her own mother; if she isn’t safe at home, where will she be safe??”

“All kids deserve parents, but not all parents deserve kids,” commented another.

An account posted, “India needs to have Child Service like in foreign countries where children are forcibly taken away from their abusive parents.”

“Sharam hi ni hai lady ko kuchh, darrbhi nahi hai kanoon ka, usse lag hi ni rha hai ki kuchh galat kar rahi hai. Bhagwaan jaane jo sadak par khule me pit sakti hai wo ghar me kya karegi bachchi ka,” remarked another.

Police Order Detailed Enquiry

Taking serious note of the viral footage, Muzaffarpur’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kantesh Kumar Mishra has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter.

“We have received information about a viral video on social media. The matter has been taken seriously. The video is being investigated. A child welfare officer will also be sent to investigate. If any type of child abuse is confirmed, legal action will be taken,” Mishra said.

Police officials stated that efforts are underway to identify the woman and the child and verify the authenticity of the video. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken if allegations of child abuse are proved. The investigation is ongoing.
