Patna: The Bihar government has appointed a “transaction advisor” for the development of 16 greenfield medical colleges and hospitals under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary here.
“The government granted administrative approval for appointing PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Limited (PwC) as the transaction advisor through a tender process. PwC will facilitate the implementation of 16 medical colleges and associated hospitals under the PPP model,” said the proposal of the health department which the cabinet approved.
The CM, in a social media post, said, “A significant decision has been taken towards expanding quality healthcare services in Bihar. Administrative approval has been granted for the appointment of PwC as the transaction advisor for the development and operation of 16 medical colleges and hospitals, including dental colleges and hospitals, under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.”
This initiative will further strengthen modern healthcare facilities in the state and provide better medical services to the general public, the CM added.
In an attempt to make the judicial system more robust and effective, the cabinet also approved a proposal for the establishment of 19 additional exclusive special courts for the expeditious disposal of pending cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
These courts would be opened in West Champaran, Madhubani, Bhojpur, Siwan, Araria, Supaul, Khagaria, Jehanabad, Buxar, Jamui, Kaimur, Katihar, Sitamarhi, Munger, Madhepura, Banka, Sheikhpura, Aurangabad, and Lakhisarai.
Approval has also been given for creating a total of 171 posts in the category of non-gazetted officers in the district and additional sessions judge courts.
“This decision is an important step towards ensuring speedy access to justice, protection of victims’ rights, and a sensitive and accountable judicial system,” the CM wrote.
The cabinet also gave administrative approval of Rs 102.22 crore for the Jamalpur water supply project and Rs 177.72 crore for the Munger water supply project under the central-sponsored Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT 2.0). These schemes will ensure clean and regular drinking water supply in the two towns.
An approval was also granted for the establishment, operation, maintenance, human resources, and arrangement of state-of-the-art equipment for the ‘Sports Science Centre’ (High Performance Sports Training and Injury Centre) on the Rajgir campus of the State Sports Academy.
“This decision is an important step towards providing world-class sports resources and training facilities to the athletes of Bihar,” Choudhary added.
“The government also granted approval for organising Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in 2026. This campaign is a significant initiative towards reaching every individual with sentiments of patriotism, national unity, and respect for the tricolour, while ensuring widespread participation of citizens,” the CM wrote.
Under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026’, a series of programmes will be organised based on the theme ‘Vande Mataram’. PTI
