Patna: The Bihar Congress on Friday celebrated the 56th birthday of leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi at the party’s state headquarters, Sadaquat Ashram, and hailed his role in national politics.State Congress president Rajesh Ram cut a cake and extended birthday greetings to Rahul. Senior functionaries, party workers and supporters participated in the celebrations.Referring to Rahul’s proposed visit to Patna on July 11, Rajesh said the Congress leader would interact with and mobilise the younger generation on issues affecting them.“Rahul Gandhi has emerged as a strong voice for democratic values, social justice, the Constitution and the rights of common people,” Rajesh said. He added that Rahul has consistently raised issues concerning youth, farmers, workers, women and marginalised sections of society.He also said the Congress has continued its struggle for social harmony, equality and the protection of democratic institutions.Among those present were Congress legislative council party functionary Madan Mohan Jha, AICC secretary and Bihar co-in charge Sunil Pasi, and state disciplinary committee chairman Kapildeo Yadav.
