Bihar MP Sanjay Jaiswal has claimed that 80% of Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor’s associates are criminals, drawing a fiery response from the poll strategist.

Jaiswal, Lok Sabha MP from West Champaran seat in Bihar, said a person who killed a Dalit community member is holding a board in Bettiah claiming to be a candidate of Prashant Kishor.

“Prashant Kishor doesn’t care about people… 80% of his associates are criminals… You can’t expect a good party from such individuals,” he said.

Reacting to Jaiswal’s allegations, the Jan Suraaj founder questioned why the BJP-led regime has allowed criminals to move freely.

“His government is currently ruling Bihar, and the BJP-NDA has the government in Delhi. So why have they let all criminals free? They are putting on their face by claiming that all the criminals in Bihar are connected to Jan Suraaj. If that is the case, then what are you doing? Catch those criminals and put them in jail. Are you taking money from them so that they can stay in Jan Suraaj?” he asked.

Kishor has worked as a poll strategist for more than a decade and helped both Congress and the BJP to win elections. However, in 2024, he floated the Jan Suraaj Party and announced to contest all assembly seats in the 2025 election.

Kishor also embarked on a padyatra in Bihar, aiming to connect with the voters.

The Election Commission of India has recently allotted the ‘school bag’ as the election symbol to Jan Suraaj for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

The elections are expected to be held later this year, in October or November. However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date yet.

In the current 243-member Bihar Assembly, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) holds 131 seats: the BJP (80), JD(U) (45), HAM(S) (4), and support from 2 independents. The Opposition India Bloc holds 111 seats, comprising RJD (77), Congress (19), CPI(ML) (11), CPI(M) (2), and CPI (2).
