Patna: Newly appointed Bihar advocate general Satya Darshi Sanjay on Saturday initiated the process for constituting a new panel of around 125 law officers, including additional advocate generals, govt advocates, govt pleaders and standing counsels, to represent the state in Patna high court.Sanjay held a meeting with the existing law officers, who later submitted letters relinquishing their posts, paving the way for the formation of a new panel. The previous panel was constituted in 2015 after the JD(U)-RJD alliance formed the govt in Bihar.Sanjay, however, clarified the present panel would continue to function until the new team was constituted.“The appointment of advocates for new team will be from all sections of society, to be made through a transparent mechanism and for the first time in history of Patna HC, 33 percent of new state’s counsels team will have representation of lady advocates,” Sanjay said.It remains unclear whether advocates associated with BJP, JD(U) and LJP(RV) will find representation in the new panel in proportion to their parties’ presence in the NDA govt. Many advocates associated with JD(U) and LJP(RV) are awaiting the final composition of the new legal team.
