Jhansi: Three children drowned while bathing in a pond in Khandeh village under the Maudaha Kotwali area of Hamirpur district on Monday, plunging the village into grief.The deceased were identified as Prabal Kumar Yadav (11), Aditya Kushwaha (8), and Bhola Kushwaha (10). Additional SP AK Verma said that four boys had gone to the pond around 10:30 am to escape the scorching heat. None of them knew how to swim. While bathing, three of them slipped into a deeper portion of the pond and began drowning. The fourth boy, who had stayed out of the water, raised an alarm.Hearing cries for help, villagers rushed towards the pond, but by that time, the victims had disappeared beneath the water. Their family members also arrived at the spot as villagers launched a frantic search operation.After nearly an hour, the villagers managed to pull the victims out of the pond and rushed them to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Maudaha. However, doctors declared all three dead.
